Reunion.
"March madness" in our house took the form of a steady stream of highly-anticipated house guests. We kicked it off with a surprise visit from several old college buddies. 'Old' meaning long-time of course, though there were many moments when we didn't feel quite as young as we used to.
Our good friend Arlo instigated the trip and gathered a few more friends as co-conspirators. We all managed to keep it secret from Kell for months (no small feat). The day of the visit, I convinced Kell that I had to be to work really early, so I dropped him off at the transit hub and then rushed back home to change sheets, clean the bathroom and grab a few groceries before going to the office.
He was none-the-wiser until I picked him up from work (under the guise that we were heading off to a romantic date weekend) and he inquired where "all the stuff" in the backseat of the car had gone. (Note to self: keep a cleaner car in preparation for situations like these.) His suspicion grew as we neared PDX and he began guessing who we might be meeting. "Your brother? Todd? Steve? Silas?" The man just couldn't contain his curiosity. Somehow he didn't buy the "we're flying to Bermuda and your swimsuit's in my purse" alibi.
Needless to say, Kell was elated to greet Arlo, Silas and Erin when they arrived. (He wasn't even bummed that there was no Bermuda.) Turns out Arlo had another surprise in the works for both of us and our dear friend Taylor drove over from Bend the next day to join in the fun.
Together, we toasted our reunion at Portland's awesome eateries, visited the Japanese Gardens and watched too many YouTube videos to admit to. A totally blissful weekend amongst friends. More pics over at our Flickr page.
