Three Months.

Oh sweet babe. The joy you bring daily is beyond words. So is the exhaustion. I don't think I have ever been so tired. That said, I don't believe being this tired has ever been so worth it. A few memories we'll treasure from this month of you...
  • Smiles.
  • You've become quite verbal. Sometimes your cooing and crying out sounds like you're genuinely trying to tell us a story. We do our best to interpret.
  • Mornings with you are something to be savored. You have a hard time waking up and fight to open your eyes. You whine and kick until you realize that, indeed, you do have control over those blasted eye lids, and open they go. The smile that follows makes my heart flutter every time.
  • We're back to hating the car seat. With a passion. A deep-seated, scream until you gag, red in the face passion.
  • More smiles.
  • You have started to request more time out of my arms. Apparently laying on the floor, bed, or in your bouncy chairs is better for the incessant kicking and stretching you like to do.
  • After several weeks of trying, you are finally adept at getting your fingers into your mouth. Sometimes it's the whole fist, sometimes the thumb, sometimes two fingers. You delight at any combination.
  • Did we say smiles?
  • Daddy makes up all kinds of fun songs for you. (Right now it's a little ditty about what kind of fruits you might like when you get bigger and you think it's pretty hilarious.)
  • You attended your first Christmas party for all of 20 minutes. Your appearance was short-lived, but you were the belle of the ball.
  • And more smiles.

Rosie wakes up the same way! Avie is looking so lively lately. Golden age of babyhood I tell you!
