Those of you who have asked, “where shall we stay while in the City o’ Salt?” will be happy to discover that there are many lodging options within close proximity to our wedding venue, Silver Fork Lodge in Big Cottonwood Canyon.

The closest, and best choice for those wishing to indulge in outdoor pursuits, is the Brighton Lodge. Located a short drive up the canyon from Silver Fork, this old-school ski lodge suits those who find “rustic charm” truly charming. Rooms are small and unadorned, but very affordable, and the accessibility to the mountain can’t be beat.

Larger groups may choose to rent one of the many vacation cabins or condos in the canyon. Visit Mount Majestic Properties or Brighton Chalets for canyon lodging. Many are slope-side and have quite reasonable summer rates, but note that quite a few also have “minimum stay” requirements.

Those desiring an even closer connection to the Utah wild may choose to camp at one of the three developed campgrounds in Big Cottonwood Canyon. Keep your eyes peeled for moose!

Looking to be close to both the canyon and the city? Homewood Suites by Hilton in Midvale is just down the road from the mouth of the Big Cottonwood, yet close to shopping, freeways, and the best burrito joint this side of the Rockies (don’t even bother trying to convince me otherwise!) Also mid-valley and close to the freeway system are the Crystal Inn and the Holiday Inn Express.

Dying to sample the city while you’re in town? Seek a hotel closer to downtown Salt Lake, though this will make your commute to the wedding 20-40 minutes longer. Looking to be pampered? The Hotel Monaco or the Peery Hotel will fit the bill. Less pricey are the Embassy Suites and Hampton Inn.
