Homework.

I've been taking a couple of continuing education courses at PNCA this fall and I can't begin to tell you how delightful it is to have homework again. Mostly because this is the most fun I've ever had doing homework.

Last week it was tracing type--to really tune-in to the subtle shifts in different serifs, the varying x-heights and counter sizes, the oh-so-delightful swoops and loops and dips and straights of each letterform. Our task is to nurture our obsessions over kerning and crossbars and the irresistible beauty of an ampersand. And seriously, I know I'm in the right place when after three hours of this madness I'm still hungry for more.
